July 15: Computer powerhouse Intel is founded by Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore
July 17: The Beatle’s animated “Yellow Submarine” premieres in London.
July 24: Arlo Guthrie performs his 20 minute ballad “Alice’s Restaurant” to rave reviews at the Newport (Rhode Island) Folk Festival.
July 26: Olivia Williams is born in Camden Town, London, England.
July 26: Decca records withdraws the release of the Rolling Stones’ “Beggars Banquet,†objecting to the cover depicting a graffiti-covered toilet. It’s later released with a more subdued “invitation†sleeve.
